Interior Painting in North & Central New Jersey

Walls, ceilings, trim, and doors painted with the prep that makes the finish last. Veteran-owned, licensed and insured, since 1998.

The Sterling standard

Interior painting is 70 percent prep, 30 percent paint.

Anyone can roll color on a wall. What separates a finish that looks sprayed-on smooth from one that telegraphs every old nail hole is what happens before the can opens. We fill and sand every hole and hairline crack, caulk the trim-to-wall gaps, spot-prime repairs and stain-prone areas, and only then apply two full finish coats. Our preferred product is Benjamin Moore: Regal Select for most walls and ceilings, Aura where you want the deepest colors and one-coat hide, and low-VOC options like Aura and Natura-class formulas for bedrooms and nurseries.

Sheen matters as much as color, and we spec it room by room: flat on ceilings, matte or eggshell in living rooms and bedrooms, satin in hallways and kids' rooms that need scrubbing, semi-gloss on trim, doors, and bathroom walls. If you're unsure on color, we offer a color consultation and can brush out samples on your actual walls before you commit.

We move and cover your furniture, protect floors with drop cloths, and leave the space broom-clean every single day. You get a written proposal within 48 hours of the walkthrough with the exact products, sheens, and price, and every job is backed by our 2-year written workmanship warranty. Veteran-owned and doing this in New Jersey since 1998.

How we do it

Our interior painting process.

Five Steps to a Lasting Interior Finish

01
Protect & Clear
Furniture moved and covered, floors protected with drop cloths, outlet covers and hardware removed. Nothing gets paint on it that shouldn't.
02
Patch, Sand & Caulk
Every nail hole, dent, and hairline crack filled and sanded flush. Trim-to-wall gaps caulked. Glossy surfaces scuff-sanded for adhesion.
03
Prime Repairs & Stains
All patches, bare drywall, and water or tannin stains sealed with the correct primer so nothing flashes or bleeds through the finish.
04
Two Finish Coats
Cut lines by hand, roll full coats of Benjamin Moore Regal Select or Aura in the sheen specified for each surface. Two coats, always, not one heavy one.
05
Walkthrough & Touch-Up
We inspect every wall in good light, then walk the job with you. Touch-ups happen on the spot, before we call it done.

Common questions

Interior painting questions.

A standard bedroom or bathroom with 8-foot ceilings usually takes 2 to 3 days including prep and two coats. Adding trim and doors adds about a half day. Your written proposal includes a specific timeline.
For most living areas we recommend eggshell or satin: soft look, easy to clean. Flat is for ceilings and low-traffic rooms, semi-gloss for trim, doors, kitchens, and baths. We walk every surface at the estimate and spec the sheen in writing.
Yes. Benjamin Moore Aura and other low-VOC lines let us paint bedrooms, nurseries, and occupied homes with minimal odor. Most rooms are usable the same evening.
No. Moving and covering furniture is part of the job and included in your estimate. Clearing small valuables and breakables ahead of time helps, but we handle the rest.
